Endodontics for Children
Vital Pulp Therapy
Endodontic treatment on pediatric patients has a slightly different focus. The goal is to preserve the functionality of the pulp until the roots of the tooth have fully formed and closed at the ends. This is called Vital Pulp Therapy (VPT).
Pulp Capping
When the cavity is very deep and close to the pulp of a tooth, or even into the pulp, we can try and preserve the pulp by performing a pulp capping procedure. Using bioactive materials, the exposed pulp can be sealed off, thereby eliminating the need for root canal treatment.
